Last weekend I turned twenty-two. I'm not sure where the last four years have gone, but I know I have enjoyed every minute at Clemson University. To kick off the birthday celebrations, my sorority sister, Anna, and I participated in The Color Run that came to campus. We were both very excited about being pelted with colored cornstarch, and even happier that the "Shine Tour" meant there would also be glitter! Although it rained the entire time, we still had a blast walk/jogging the 5K with her boyfriend. I definitely want to do it again in a different city. We registered online back in January, and then received an email last week about picking up our runners packet at Gotta Run in Clemson. The bag included our number, shirt, temporary tattoos, a rainbow headband, and a variety of sample products from their sponsors. On race day, we got to the pre-race party around 8:00am and had to wait about 15 minutes until our group was called to the starting line. There was an abundance of music and bubbles and smiling faces in the rain! At the finish line, you're given a medal and a couple bags of color to throw at the after party. There was a stage set up with music and prizes, and professional photographers around to snap glittery memories. Don't forget to pack old towels to sit on for the ride home!

First things first... If you aren't an Anthro loyalty member you need to join! Once you're official you'll start getting emails about exclusive events at your Anthropologie store. My favorite perk of joining Anthro is the birthday discount! Each year you'll receive a 15% off coupon that may be applied to your total purchase, including sale items, any day during your birthday month. You'll also be invited to an exclusive birthday party at your store, but sign up quick because there are limited spots. I registered for the Greenville party on April 9th and was able to add a guest, too. This was my first birthday party at Anthropologie, and I will definitely go again next year. When we arrived we checked in with a sweet girl at the front door who gave me an adorable pinwheel to signify that I was a birthday girl. Next, we wandered over to a table of cupcakes and champagne and found out that certain cupcakes had numbers on the bottom which indicated the amount of a gift card you won. I didn't win anything this year, but I thought it was such a neat idea. There was an excited buzz coming from all corners of the store! After an hour of shopping and trying on dresses, I walked away with a ruffled apron and two handpainted cabinet knobs in the shape of moths. I've got an antique cabinet I've started refinishing, and they are perfect for it. Thank you, Anthropologie, for such a wonderful evening!
When I first started thinking about bridesmaids dresses I knew I wanted it to be something unique, but also a dress my maids can wear again. When I said "Yes to the Dress" last fall at David's Bridal I looked around the bridal shop at their bridesmaids dresses, but couldn't find anything that didn't look generic. They had limited designers and styles, and while they were beautiful, I felt like I had seen them all before. I went home to do some research and found the Bella Bridesmaids website. So many choices. I emailed the Greenville store to set up an appointment, and we met with Kerry on February 28. Only three of my bridesmaids could make the appointment, but we had so much fun playing dress-up. Even though my two out-of-town bridesmaids couldn't come that day, they were able to go to their local boutique (Charleston + Nashville) to try on the dress and get measured. Bella Bridesmiads is by appointment only, so it was just us and one other party in the store. They had petit fours and champagne laid out for us, and for an hour we got to go through the racks of designers they had in store. After we picked the perfect dress & got everyone measured, Kerry emailed me the order form and gave us a deadline of 4 weeks to have all the dresses purchased. They don't start making the dresses until they've all been ordered to ensure they're from the same bolt of fabric. The estimated delivery time for my dresses is 3 months, which gives my ladies a month before the wedding to have alterations made. Last weekend I received a sweet, hand written letter from Kerry thanking me for making an appointment with them & congratulating us on picking a dress. She also sent me two color swatches to give my florist and keep in my wedding binder. This superior customer service just confirms we went to the right boutique! Based on my Pinterest finds I thought I wanted Alfred Sung dresses, but once I saw the Lynn Lugo collection I knew it was perfect for our wedding! The most important thing for me was finding a bright shade of kelly green. Since I want peach and white flowers, and the groomsmen will be wearing tan suits, I thought green would really pop. The shade I went with is "grass" in a silk shantung fabric, and it looks so great on everyone. With Lynn Lugo, you're able to pick out the bodice and skirt separately, and they make a custom dress for your party. I can't wait to show off my beautiful bridesmaids on August 1st.
