It's only a 3.5 hour drive from Fountain Inn, so we had plenty of time to pack and arrive in time for check in at 4pm. We dropped off our bags, gawked at the room and view, and then quickly got ready for a night on the town. Our place was on the far end of River St (next to Southern Tide) so we decided to walk the street and pop into some shops before finding dinner. I hadn't done any research prior to arriving, so we picked restaurants spontaneously and really lucked out with some delicious spots! We ended up at Bernie's Oyster House, a locally owned dive bar that reminded us so much of Clemson. The po'boys were great and the beer was cold; we will definitely eat there again. Back on River St, we watched the sun set and enjoyed watching the boats come in and out of the harbor. Since Savannah has relaxed open container laws we were able to get daquaris at Vic's and walk the riverfront back to our room.
We had a slow Sunday morning while we packed up and moved our car to a free parking spot. Once we were checked out of our Airbnb we walked a few blocks over to another popular restaurant called Little Duck Diner. They had a good mix of specialty brunch items as well as down home favorites, we loved it! We didn't have a bad meal or poor service this entire trip.
We decided to pop into a few antique stores before hitting the road back home. This weekend getaway really filled our cups. We were so thankful to have a vacation for just the two of us that didn't involve work, and were glad that it wasn't affected by Covid! Savannah has definitely become one of our favorite cities!
