At the front of the house is a huge front porch which leads into the formal living room. Inside, our home is split in to two areas, the living spaces to the left and the bedrooms to the right. It's hard to explain without giving you a tour, but as I post before and after pictures you'll get an idea of the layout. Two of the bedrooms are original, and the third was converted from the dining room. There is one full bathroom located in the hallway between bedrooms, but we have plans to add a powder room off the kitchen for guests.
The reason this house stood out among all the rest is its charm. We looked at a lot of house that were "cookie cutter" and lacked character. This bungalow has the shape I was looking for on the outside and the details I love on the inside. As we reveal pictures of each room you'll see 9 and 10 foot ceilings, dropped crown moulding, 9" baseboards, heart pine floors, and a bead board ceiling in the bath. Every door and window is a different size, but that just tells me that this home was made by hand. The exterior is painted aluminum siding covering original shiplap. Don't worry, we plan to expose that wood, paint it, and seal it off. The roof it two layers of shingles covering the original cedar shake. Again, we want to change that to metal to really give this house an authentic look. There were two chimneys, but one had to be removed because it was leaning and the fireplace it led to has long ago been sealed up. One day I would love to open up the walls to find that double sided fireplace and add gas inserts. As of now, all that remains are the concrete hearths in the two guest rooms. The front fireplace has also been sealed, but the previous owners added ventless gas logs that we greatly appreciate.
In addition to the bungalow, we have a freshly paved asphalt drive and parking pad, a two car detached garage, and a potting shed. On the back of the house is a back porch that has been closed in and will make the perfect sunroom.
We can't wait to reveal to y'all all the work we've put into this fixer upper, as well as the bigger plans we have for the future.
