Summertime is here! I am so ready to spend evenings our here on our swing, listening to the radio and watching the cars go by. Connor and I love to be outside and having this outdoor living space is so nice. We have spent many Saturdays working in the yard and setting up the porch for entertaining. The swing was handmade by our uncle and was hanging up when we arrived home from our honeymoon. We love it so much that we will be taking it with us if we ever move. The rest of the furniture I ordered online except for the plant stand that Connor built for me. The porch is currently overflowing with flowers I have for sale and the ferns have tripled in size. I can foresee us spending a lot of time out here! Since these photos were taken we've taken down the metal awning and the iron rails. Our plan is to wrap those existing columns with wood and paint them to match the trim. This week we will finally be getting a new roof, and I've got contractors coming by to give me estimates on painting the siding. I don't want to give away too much, but I'll post pictures as soon as the exterior renovations are complete!

On April 25th I turned 23 years old. I'll be honest, turning 23 isn't that special, but my family and friends sure did make me feel loved. We started celebrating on Saturday morning when Connor took me to Augusta, Georgia to go shopping at a thrift store called Final Cut. My cousin-in-law told me about this gem a few months ago, and I was promised that I could go shopping there for my birthday. A 2-hour drive for a thrift store may seem a little bizarre, but what's so great about this store is they receive sample sales and floor models from Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters, and Free People. We picked up some great finds for our bungalow, including an iron daybed. My only recommendation? Have several hours to look around the store and take a trailer with you if you have one! We came home to have dinner with my brother-in-law and his girlfriend then ended the night at Ice Cream Station. On Sunday we went to church, had lunch at Connor's grandparent's house, and then met my best friends from college at the Drive game downtown. We had so much fun cheering on the home team, and grabbed some dinner afterwards at Nose Dive. Their gourmet burgers and nachos were worth a repeat trip. Monday was my actual birthday. Although Connor had to work, I had the day off and spent it doing my favorite things - planting flowers and binge watching Netflix. I had the best time just lounging around, and when Connor came home we were able to meet my parents in Anderson for dinner and dessert at Sullivan's. This is the same restaurant where we had our rehearsal dinner, and that red velvet cake was still to die for. A gift from my loving husband was this fiddle leaf fig tree and basket. I've been wanting one of these trees for months but I've been hesitant because I've heard they can be quite finicky. After researching some more I decided I was ready for the commitment, so Connor picked me one up at a local nursery called Martin's. They're quite pricey but in comparison to our other house plants, this tree is the king. I found the perfect sunny window for it by our kitchen table so I don't forget to check on it every day. I've found that it does best when I water it 1 cup of water every 3 days and I rotate it once a week. The first few days were rough, the leaves wilted and I was afraid it was going to die, but once I started to water it more often it perked back up and now has 6 new leaves! To keep it shiny I rub the leaves down with coconut oil and dust them once a week.
