We woke up early Sunday morning to make bacon and eggs over the fire and start packing up. It was the first time we could see our breath this fall. Before heading home, we decided to stop by Stump House Tunnel. We've walked through the tunnel many times, but it always intrigues me to be in the pitch black darkness. We climbed the trails over the tunnel to find the vent, and passed other couples doing the same. We may our way down the mountain and back home to Fountain Inn. Connor thanked me for a night out of town (and cell phone reception) to celebrate his birthday just the two of us. It's always so refreshing to spend some time in the woods!
Connor turned 26 last month, and we had the best time celebrating him! I surprised him with a new sleeping bag and a trip to Oconee State Park to break it in. We left bright and early Saturday morning to pack the truck and make our way to the mountains. We made it to Walhalla in time for lunch and to walk through Oktober Fest. From there, we drove up the mountain to the park to check in and set up camp. By mid afternoon, we drove another couple miles to the Walhalla State Fish Hatchery before it closed so I could visit my old stomping grounds (did you know I lived there for a summer in college when I was a DNR intern?). Connor graciously listened to my biology lecture as we walked by the runs of trout, and then we walked some of the trails around the hatchery. We made our way back to camp to listen to the end of the Clemson game and start cooking chili hotdog for dinner. We had the best time chitchatting with the neighboring tents and cooking over a camp stove. After we ate, we walked through the park to see if anything had changed since my childhood; it hadn't. We listened to more football and music and talked about life well after dark, and once the wind picked up we decided to head to bed. Oh, these vast, calm, measureless mountain days, days in whose light everything seems equally divine, opening a thousand windows to show us God. John Muir

I've shared before about Connor's cousin who is a photographer (and owns Traction Co Mercantile!). Megan has photographed our rehearsal dinner, anniversaries, and Christmas cards. Back in July, she reached out to me about doing a styled shoot for our third anniversary wearing our wedding clothes. I immediately said, "Yes!" We traveled a lot this summer, but finally scheduled the shoot for the beginning of October. It was surreal to put on my wedding dress again after it's been hidden in the closet for three years. I steamed my veil, grabbed an old pair of boots, and was ready to go. Connor rented his tan suit for our wedding, so we decided to go with a different look this time. A pair of olive pants and a floral tie were perfect for this relaxed shoot at Paris Mountain. Happy Anniversary, Connor. I'd marry you again every day! All my love, all my life. I hesitated to share these photos because they feel so intimate to me, but decided to post because Megan's work deserves to be displayed. Her photography is so simple and human focused. She perfectly captured our personalities and style, and the colors match our home. These are very different from our wedding photos, and I love that I have both to hold on to. If you're looking for a wedding, newborn, lifestyle photographer I cannot recommend Megan Martin Photography enough!
