Connor and I frequent the local shelter just to love on the animals. When we saw Jasper we were just there to visit, not adopt. As soon as I saw his blue eyes through those bars I fell in love. He was actually listed as a female cat named "Tiny," and was very vocal. When we let him out he walked around the room and immediately played with the teaser toy Connor had. We went home that night and thought very hard before going back the next afternoon to pick him up. I named him Julia and bought all kinds of things for him before realizing she was a he.
He had a rocky start trying to recuperate from his neuter surgery and upper respiratory infection, and then as soon as he started feeling better he caught ringworm. That was a whole mess of nightly baths and ointment, but now he is healthy as a horse! Jasper is settling in nicely at our new house and loves being an only cat. He spends his days lounging on the couch or his cat tree, and spends his evenings chasing us around the house and pouncing on our feet. His latest bad habit is begging for table scraps by yowling under the table at supper time. He sure does love to snuggle, though!
