No major changes over here at the Blue Bungalow, lately, but with summer fast approaching I decided to spruce up the porch with some new decor. All of the furniture is the same, but the rug and some of the pillows needed replacing after the winter season.
The first swap was the the rug. Originally, I made the mistake of ordering an "indoor/outdoor" rug thinking the porch was covered enough that it wouldn't get wet. As the South Carolina sun beat down, half of the rug faded and the rest stayed soggy most of the winter. I replaced it with a cheaper rug that claims to be fade resistant and so far, so good! I love that I can rinse it off with the hose. I also grabbed some new cushions for the furniture set. I've been happy with their quality so far, but the white cushions that came with it stained quickly and were difficult to clean. Luckily, they are a standard size and I was able to find some inexpensive navy blue replacements.
You may notice I painted the storm door to match the rest of the house. We were hoping to replace it, but realized our door size is uncommon and will require a custom order. This makeover will have to do for now. I also painted the front door a light gray to better match the roof. I think it really pops compared to the dark red it used to be and draws your eye to the entrance.
Lastly, I planted the concrete planters and hanging baskets with coordinating flowers that will last all summer long. After a late frost the azaleas looked pitiful so we had to cut them all the way back. Don't worry, they're already growing back!
