On moving day, back in August of 2015, Connor replaced the worn out commode with a Kohler toilet that sits at chair height. This was the most expensive piece but well worth it. Fast forward to November of this year, and we were finally ready to start the rest of the reno. I painted the walls a creamy white and cleaned the existing tile walls. The linoleum floors were installed when the house first went on the market, so we decided to leave them for now. The original vanity was painted a medium greige and new cabinet pulls were installed. We found the new vanity top at Surplus Warehouse for only $49.99! I like how it's all one piece and the sink is centered.
There were two flush mount lights and an exhaust fan on the beadboard ceiling. We replaced the lights with funky gold pendants, but left the fan because it's still in good shape. My electrician will be coming over after the first of the year to install an outlet in here so I can blow dry my hair. No more drop cords from the hall!
Our next project is to clean, paint, and organize the two linen closets. I love how much storage there is, but they're pretty dingy right now. We plan to install new shelving and brighten them up. I also want to have the 1920's cast iron tub professionally reglazed.
The two butler doors stay propped open most days, but can be closed when we entertain in the dining room. They are just another example of that craftsman character we fell in love with!
