Gamma Sigma Sigma of Clemson University spent Valentine's Day at the Brides Against Breast Cancer Bridal Boutique in Greenville, SC. BABC is a non-profit organization out of Florida that contributes to programs for cancer patients and their families. The "Nationwide Tour of Gowns" is a pop-up bridal show in cities across the US where women affected by cancer can buy wedding gowns at a steeply discounted rate. The thousands of gowns in the show are all donated; some are used and others are samples donated by bridal boutiques. My sisters and I participated in this event as volunteers who helped brides pull dresses from the shelves, try them on, and return dresses that weren't "the one." It was so special to see these women "Say Yes to the Dress!" When a bride picks her gown the entire room erupts in clapping and cheers, and the show director rings a bell. Once she's been properly celebrated, the featured vendors offer her make-up and jewelry, and she gets to model her dress for the crowd. A photographer at the show takes a few professional photos for the bride to take home with her. In the few hours we were there over 10 brides found their perfect dress. It was such a fun day!

Connor and I celebrated our sixth Valentine's Day last weekend! I feel blessed to be engaged to such a selfless man. I spent most of the day in Greenville with my sorority, but when I returned Connor had cleaned my apartment and left me a sweet card and a bouquet of flowers. We had a 7:00 reservation at Rick Erwin's, and it was by far the best restaurant we've been to together. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was romantic, and the food was to-die-for! Thank you, Connor, for a truly magical evening. I ordered the Petite Center-Cut Filet Mignon with a side of Four-Cheese Macaroni. Connor had Ricks' Signature Surf & Turf which included a Petite Center-Cut Filet Mignon, Lobster Tail, Whipped Potatoes, and Sauteed Vegetables. For dessert we shared a huge slice of Carnegie Deli NY Cheesecake. Check out their full menu here.
February 14 is one of my favorite days of the year. I generally find any excuse to bake and craft goodies for the ones I love, but Valentine's Day is a given. I've spent the past week baking strawberry cupcakes, filling red tins with Kisses, and drawing handmade V-Day cards. Since we've started college, Connor and I pick a different restaurant to try each year on Valentine's Day. So far we've been to Pixie & Bill's, Calhoun Corners, The Lighthouse Restaurant, and this year we've reserved a table at Rick Erwin's Clemson. Each place we've been to has been superb, and I'm sure this year will be no different. A simple construction paper card with a handwritten message means so much more than a $5 card picked out at random from the drug store. I made a handful of these notes with different "southern sayings" in a single afternoon. I can't wait to share the love!
